The following approaches are just a few you could take in writing your assignment. They are not mutually exclusive – you could cover elements of more than one – and of course you can do something not on this list at all.
1. Examine how accurately different theories of leadership describe the behaviour of the leader you have chosen (which could be you) and reflect on the importance of leader self- awareness.
2. Discuss how research on leadership can helps us understand how the leader you have chosen may need to adapt or learn in order to be successful and/or resilient in a post-COVID world.
3. Consider whether leadership you have observed being successful in one culture or organization would be successful in another, and why. How helpful is the research on cross- cultural or situational leadership in understanding this?
4. Evaluate either an individual leader or the collective leadership of an organization in terms of its ability to adapt and meet the challenges of a rapidly changing environment (e.g., COVID pandemic) in an ethical and successful way. You might consider the need to cope with and/or drive change in relation to hybrid working, the gig economy, digital transformation, and or globalization. Discuss whether academic writing can help to inform leadership practice in this setting.
