Content analysis is the method of qualitative data analysis.  It refers to the practice of analyzing qualitative data, Communication artefacts, pictures, videos and audios to identify major themes.  I use content analysis while I was doing a research paper on preferences of customers towards a fashion brand and I intended to know the perception of managers about preferences of customers.  I conducted interviews of 20 managers from a leading fashion brand. This interview has helped me in collecting data about various elements of customer preferences such as price range, color preference, fabric, most preferred season, response on discount, etc.

I was expecting that this method is about identifying major themes from a large content of written words.  But it was more than that. Earlier I was not aware that this method could also be used to analyze videos and pictures and that was something that I missed. Later on, I realized that, if I would have this knowledge earlier I could have used images and videos of fashion brands to give this research more significance. This also made me realize that this method has more utility than I expected.  At the same time, I also realized that it is important to contemplate on all the important benefits of a research method. The experience of doing this task matched with my expectations because it gave me significant results about what I was intending to know about the fashion brand.  It has also helped me in achieving my objectives.  By doing that task, I learnt a number of things.  The foremost learning for me was that it is very important to have complete knowledge of whatever we intend to do. I did not know about analysis of images and videos using this method and that made me feel I have incomplete knowledge in some manner. This is why I can say that the next time I will use this method, I will make sure to use this method for analyzing videos and images. That will further help me in getting significant results by utilizing this method.  On the basis of this I can also say that there is a huge difference between what we learn in theory and what we do practically.
