In this scenario, your organization has been awarded a contract to install a new cloud-based Video on Demand (VOD) Solution to video record the proceedings of the Parliament and its committees by the Department of Parliamentary Services. DPS will use the solution for its official video recordings of press conferences and other events at and for pieces to camera shot in DPS studios.
The site inspection is simulated on the basis of the “Parliamentary ICT environment”. Your Assessor will represent the client for any stakeholder communications.

Operations of DPS
The Department of Parliamentary Services (DPS) supports the functions of the Australian Parliament and the work of parliamentarians by:
providing professional services, advice and facilities;
providing ongoing maintenance of Australian Parliament House (APH); and
making APH, and the important activity that takes place within it, accessible.
DPS reports to the Presiding Officers of the Parliament (the Speaker of the House of Representatives and the President of the Senate).
DPS services includes providing:
library and research services;
parliamentary broadcasting and recording;
a full range of information and communication technology (ICT) services;
ICT and building security services;
extensive visitor services, including tours, retail and information at APH and online;
asset management, including building and landscape planning, upgrading and maintenance;
health and recreation and hospitality services;
management of the APH art collection and historic memorials collection; and corporate services to DPS.
In the context of the operations of DPS as set out above, the new Video On Demand (VOD) Solution will span DPS’ parliamentary broadcasting and ICT services and form part of DPS’ online video services, which ensure video recordings of Parliament are accessible to the public online and appropriately retained as records of national significance.

Overview
DPS seeks to procure a new cloud-based VOD Solution to video record the proceedings of the Parliament and its committees. DPS will use the solution for its official video recordings of press conferences and other events at APH and for pieces to camera shot in DPS studios.
DPS will use the new VOD Solution to manage, stream and store future recordings and pre-existing recordings. As part of the implementation of the new VOD Solution, the Service Provider will be required to migrate pre-existing recordings, which DPS will export from legacy systems for the Service Provider to process and ingest into the VOD Solution.
