2. DESIGN AND IMPLEMENT A WEB APPLICATION. [Analysis; Application; Communication; Problem Solving]

3. DEMONSTRATE A CRITICAL UNDERSTANDING OF THE COMPONENTS IN A SECURE MOBILE FRAMEWORK AND APPLICATION. [Knowledge & Understanding]

Scenario: Online Perfume Store
You have to specify, design, write and test a web application for an Online Perfume Shop. The system should be designed based on the following facts:
a. The company provides a number of perfume types such as EUP (Eau de Perfume), EUT (Eau de Toilette), EUC (Eau de Cologne), etc.
b. Many brands provide these types of perfumes. Each perfume has item code, name, price and other details.
c. The customer can purchase any number of perfumes.

Create the database and tables for the above scenario. You have to provide at least 3 tables in the database with proper relationship.

You are required to develop web pages using Java Server Faces following the MVC architecture. Your business logic should be separated from the JSF program and should be provided as a Java class. Your webpages should be interactive and attractive. You have to develop web pages connecting to the database and provide insert, delete, update and select operations. You do not need to include the payments as part of the transaction. You should critically analyse the web application, that you have developed, for the components and patterns used in the web architecture.

Submission Materials
• A soft copy of your complete report and your project.
• The body of the report should include the following:

I. Introduction and Objectives

  • Write a simple description about the program and its objectives

II. Review of Existing Systems

  •  Include a brief explanation of at least two existing systems and the solutions that they are offering.

III. UML and Storyboard

  •  Include ER Diagram and a brief description of the diagram.
  •  Provide the website layout.

IV. Implementation

  • Display the screenshot of each web page and label the different objects.
  • Give a brief description of each web page.
  • Explain the MVC architecture used in the implementation.
  • Identify important code snippets for discussion in each web page.

V. Testing

  • Write at least 2 test cases for each web page.

VI. Critical Analysis

  • Critically analyse the components and patterns, that you have applied in the web application that you have developed.

VI. Reference List

  • List down all the references you cited in the report using the Harvard style of referencing.
  • Make sure that the references you listed match with the citations you made in the report.

Assessment Criteria:
A. To obtain a mark of 70 – 100%, your work should:
• The system should fully implement the scenario.
• Develop the application following MVC architecture.
• Properly implement all the database tables with appropriate constraints.
• Implement the listing of almost all of the database tables in the web pages.
• Include the detailed critical analysis of the assignment.
• Competently document the system with appropriate error checks you undertake.
• Demonstrate a considerable depth of understanding in both the implementation and documentation.

B. To obtain a mark of 60 – 69%, your work should:
• Implement most of the database tables with appropriate constraints.
• Implement the listing of most of the database tables in the web pages.
