Assignment Task:

This portion of the project focuses on gathering the necessary information to determine the cost and recommended price of a product.  My approach to this project is an entrepreneur trying to convince someone to invest in my new business.

Part I of this project will be the basis for the more analytical parts of the comprehensive project that will come later, the project that I choose is a new product in a covenant already to make box called Noodles and Sauce. A new competitor to the basic Macaroni and Cheese in a box

Noodles and Sauce! This 15-minute wonder is absolutely my kid’s new go-to quick noodle meal.

Noodles and Sauce Recipe:

1. Making Noodles and Sauce is not a lengthy process – it’s going to come together in ONE PAN in something like 15 minutes, start to finish. JOY of JOYS. I seriously had no idea when I set out to learn about all things Noodles and Sauce that it would be such a gem of a quick + easy recipe, and not in the way where you’re skimping on anything. Just by nature, it is that simple.

2. Noodles and Sauce don’t require fancy or unusual ingredients. Like, at all, ½ a cup of quality tomato sauce and small shell noodles is basically it. That’s your Noodles and Sauce magic right there. For real – just one cup of boiled noodles, ¼ cup of water, ½ cup of tomato sauce, and a pinch of onion salt and you’re in Noodles and Sauce business. I mean, almost everyone, no matter what their cooking level is, can make this meal and my kids love it, it’s better than Mac and Cheese.

3. And finally, packaging Noodles and Sauce in an awesome quick all ingredients box, just boil the noodles and add the sauce, with a pinch of onion salt, you have a mostly-healthy home dish.

Assignment:
Prepare a 4-5 page modified business plan for the Noodles and Sauce business project. The first paragraph should include an introduction. This introduction will explain what product you will be providing and why you think this will be profitable. Your introduction should include a business/industry overview.

Next section should explain the sales and marketing plan. How many of your goods can you sell?  What research have you done to come up with this plan? Who is the competition and why do you think you could compete with them? Who is your target market? Do you have a competitive advantage? How do you plan to position your product or brand your product? Think back to any marketing classes you have had and provide answers to these questions.

Your next section will explain your product specifics. Here you will tell me in more detail about your product. What R & D you have done so far, and what do you have planned for the future? What problems have you identified with the product?

The next section will explain the manufacturing process for your product, or explain how you will deliver your service. This section should include research for obtaining direct materials, distribution channels for raw materials, costs, and lead times. How many direct labour hours would you use to produce your product? How will you compute overhead? Where will you do this work? How long will the process take and what quality controls will you have in place? What is your time frame for getting the product to market ready for customers? You may provide a summary number and include the chart of costs in the appendices depending on the detail you provide here.

Your next section will discuss the actual financials for your product. Estimate your costs to produce your product, and what price you plan to set for your product. Think about the unit costs and what period costs will be incurred to produce your product. How will you finance your endeavour? Do you plan on selling your company or growing your company? Do you have an exit strategy?

The final section should look at potential weaknesses and limitations that you may have to get your product to market. These may include any problems from external forces (market, financial) or internal weakness (materials prices, labour) you will encounter.

The majority of the points will come from the quality of thought and effort in your comprehensive product. I will not be judging your plan, per se, but will instead be judging how much thought you put into your plan. Since this project is supposed to be ready for an investor, have the following formatting:

  1. Create a title page similar to the one at the beginning of this packet.
  2. Use page numbering, but don’t include the title page in the numbering scheme.
  3. Use single spacing for your text and extra lines to break up paragraphs and sections.
  4. Use a page to break up the appendix from the remainder of the project with ‘Appendices’ as the title.  Also, title the appendices appropriately.  This may include price breakdowns or marketing statistics.
  5. Proofread your paper to correct grammatical errors and ensure a smooth flow of ideas.
