In those cases where an interpreter was present, assess the interpreter´s performance, behavior and determine if his/her performance was aligned with the AUSIT code of ethics. Also, observe what the other participant's perception was regarding the interpreter and the impact their behavior had on the interpreter.

3. Write a report covering the aspects mentioned above or any other aspect that you observed and think is worth mentioning

4. Write a conclusion bearing in mind the literature on ethics and theory presented in class/recommended readings

Description of the case - Ms xx appealed the decision of the Immigration Department which rejected her mother´s tourist visa to enter Australia, etc. etc.

Issues/dilemmas -  The interpreter turned up 5 minutes late and showed lack of professional conduct and punctuality. She had side conversations with the LOTE-speaking client and did not render them for the Member of the tribunal, compromising the principle of impartiality Also, she showed poor management skills, and was unable to control the flow of the communication between the client and the Member. This meant that some information was missed and thus, accuracy
suffered. The interpreter was familiarised with the terminology of the setting and rendered the specialised language accurately. This demonstrated her competence and domain of the specialized field where she was interpreting The interpreter was nor appropriately dressed for the occasion. Her attire was unprofessional and not suitable for the setting where she was interpreting. She came to the hearing in thongs and brought some shopping bags with her. Etc, etc.
