Introduction

  • Understand the role of management consultancy in the IT / digital environment
  • Demonstrate skills of being a management consultant such as stakeholder engagement, problem solving, and effective presentation skills
  • Understand the effects of digital / IT change management, innovation and governance

Element 1 - Portfolio – Five group activities

Assessment details are provided in the folder Group Assessments in the Assessments section on Blackboard. Students will be asked to form groups of 5 and work together on these assessments.

Weighting: 5 * 5% = 25%.

Each activity is worth 5%.

Element 2 - Individual Presentation

You and your team are part of a startup platform consultancy firm. You are planning to apply for £250,000 grant from the UK Government Industrial Fund (UKGIF) to develop a platform. The success of this platform will help to grow the company exponentially in the next five years.

As part of the application, you are required to produce a ten minutes presentation with video recording by using PowerPoint.

For the PowerPoint slides, you are required to cover the analysis results below:

  •  A strategy analysis in order to identify the current market place of your platform compared to other market players.
  •  A digital business strategy of the proposed platform in growing the company
  • The business model of your proposed platform.
  • The key features of the proposed platform
  • Accurate costings for the proposed platform, and should be particularly careful not to overestimate the resources required. Costs should be clearly itemised and justified in terms of the proposed platform.

Element 3- Individual Essay

You must select one of the following topics to develop an individual essay. You are expected to 7 conduct a comprehensive literature review on the selected topic, followed by your critical argument. The essay should follow the standard academic writing style and structure.

1. How can enterprise architecture contribute to an organisation’s success?

2. Why is governance important in a platform-based business?

3. Why is change management vital for digital transformation initiative?
