A demolition work plan should be prepared and approved before demolition work on any site can be commenced.
A sample preliminary demolition work plan has been provided for you to illustrate some of the information that is required in such a plan.
For this task you must refer to AS2601 The Demolition of Structures, the Code of Practice for Demolition Work and other relevant documentation to answer questions relevant to the plans and photographs provided for this project. A four storey building with ground floor commercial premises and residential units above is proposed for this site following the demolition of the existing retail premises and ‘shop top housing’ (residential above a commercial premises).

1. List the major safety issues for this demolition that are relevant to protecting:

a. the general public,

1: The sign board should be there indicating that demolition of building is going so please cooperate go slowly and slight away from building.

2: General public should made aware that demolition involve risk and accident so please be careful.

3: To heavy machinery used in demolition there is going to be huge amount traffic congestion.

4: There will be huge amount of pollution due to demolition.

5: There is going to huge vibration involved due to demolition.

6: There is going to huge noise pollution due to demolition.

b. adjoining buildings,

1: There is going to huge vibration due to demolition so it may cause damage to adjoining building so vibration should be within limits.

2: Care should be taken that any material should not fall onto adjacent building.

3: If there is water seepage then it may harm foundation of adjoining building

4: If there is leakage of electricity then also it will cause damage.

5: If any chemical or pollutant are involved it may cause damage to adjoining building

c. site personnel, and

1: Demolition involve risk so any part could fall any time on any person so care should be taken.

2: IF bad water or any liquid or chemical is coming from any where it may damage persons working

3: There is possibility of short circuit due to demolition.

4: There is possibility of accidents while using machinery for demolition.

5: There is going to be hygienic problems on site due to demolition.

d. the immediate environment.

1: There is huge pollution of environment due to huge amount of dust into environment.

2: There is huge noise pollution due to demolition.

3: There may be contamination of water also bad water coming out of demolition.
