Highlights
I’m giving you a bunch of requirements documentation for a business case. You have to complete the documentation as instructed and then write the SQL scripts that will create a database capable of accepting the records provided to you. Then you populate the tables by getting those records formatted in INSERT statements and running them against your tables. After all of that you will alter a couple of tables and provide those in a separate script file.
Business Case: DriveTeq Driving Experiences
Our client, DriveTeq, provides high performance driver education opportunities to individuals looking to hone their driving skills in a safe environment away from public roads. DriveTeq’s loyal customers love and appreciate their days at the track with the DriveTeq group and so the small company has a very loyal clientele which has been growing in recent years.
DriveTeq is looking for a small bespoke piece of software to manage client information including their contact details, events they register for, their driving ability, the places they drive at, and the instructors they receive instruction from at each event if any at all. The advantages DriveTeq hopes to achieve with this project are mostly to be derived from the kind reporting that can only come from well thought out database implementation. The summary and aggregated data that a few years of events can provide would give insight into the money coming in, clients and their demographic info, popular events, peak seasons, and driver skill progression.
With some minor adjustments beyond this basic first design, they hope for further features such as tracking attendance vs. registration, recording incidents involving EMS or the towing service, ejection of participants for unsafe driving, and other notable details relevant to managing this business. They would be happy and interested to hear any suggestions you have for alternatives to the provided design, but such suggestions are not required for this right now.
We’ve done some preliminary analysis and have arrived at the following documentation details. Use these to guide your work and produce the SQL database structure we need.
Gerry, the accountant end of the duo running DriveTeq, tells us he takes payments through a separate process and won’t need our project to worry about that other than tracking whether or not someone is paid up or not.
