Overview

In this assessment you will report some descriptive statistics using data from the Crime Survey for England and Wales 2013- 2014: Teaching Dataset. In addition to the data, you will need the Data Dictionary and User Guide, all provided on the course site. These materials will be introduced and explained in recorded lectures, instructional videos, and during weekly Q&A sessions.

Using these data, you will address the following research questions:

1. How worried are British adults about being a victim of crime, and how does this vary by gender and age?
2. How common do British adults perceive physical disorder in their neighbourhoods to be? And how does this vary by gender and age?

AIMS

The aims of this assessment are for you to:

1. use a data dictionary and user guide to understand the format and content of real data
2. carry out some descriptive statistics
3. report your work using the Introduction, Method, Results and Discussion format (IMRD format). This will be introduced and explained during the course.
