Question

What does poetry say about life? Address this question by referring to the themes in your chosen poem. In your analysis make sure to refer to the techniques and devices in the poem. Also ensure to refer to the poem itself (textual evidence) and use a secondary academic peer-reviewed source that you find independently.

Choose one poem studied in weeks 10, 11 and 12 and provide a response to a question by considering the following:

• What d you think the poem means?
• What characteristics of the poem led you to interpret it in a certain way?
• What is the main idea of the poem?
• What big ideas does the poem interrogate or address?

The reflection must include an analysis of the poem and identification of the poetic devices/elements. When interpreting, refer directly to the poem (its language, themes, imagery, structure as examples) to better communicate why you have responded to the poem in the way that you have. You want to justify your reading by engaging with the language, techniques and context of the poem. You will be expected to demonstrate clear and logical written communication and an understanding of how literacy devices ceate meaning. In your response, please make use of the Oxford Dictionar of Liiterary terms to accurately describe the features of your chosen poem.
