1.1 Introduction
Research Project is an important and integral part of all academic programs curriculum at SBL. While undertaking a research project, the students gain first-hand experience in a particular industry and get an opportunity to innovate, add to, and challenge ideas and techniques imbibed during their studies. It is an ideal way to explore an industry, build a relationship with a prospective employer and pave way for placement too.

2.1 Objectives
The objectives of the Project Work are:
To provide an opportunity to apply knowledge in different functional areas viz., Human Resources Management, Marketing, Finance, Entrepreneurship etc.
To expose students to apply the management concepts and models to the corporate world and find solutions to problems/issues.
To provide an opportunity for an organization to experience the performance of a prospective employee, evaluate his/her performance and plan to hire the student upon completion of the project.

Title and Synopsis
a) Title: The topic for Management Research Project selected should investigate the strategic or operational issues of managerial interest to one or more organizations. A good title is short, specific, and one that conveys the objective and scope of the study clearly. This can be very advantageous in generating a prospective employer’s interest in the research project thereby enhancing an intern’s employability. The topic should be of student’s interest and should contribute towards achieving his/her career aspirations.

b) Synopsis: A broad outline of the proposed research in about 1000 words may be submitted for approval prior to commencement of actual work on the Project
Work. It must be a self-contained, short and meaningful statement that describes a research project. Typically, the key components of the proposed project should include the following:

i. Introduction: It shall broadly describe the sector/industry, the functional area of proposed study, need for taking of the study, etc.
ii. Objectives of the study: The specific objectives of the study shall be presented in a precise way.
iii. Description of the problem: A brief description of the problem shall be presented. The significance of the study in terms of the possible benefits and impact needs to be clearly brought out. The purpose is to demonstrate clearly that the intern understands what the problems are, and what needs to be done in a manner that generates interest in the project.
