Guidance questions for critiquing the research article are below:
Is the methodology adopted clear?
Is any terminology explained for the reader?
Are the methods of data collection suited to the chosen methodology?
Are the aims of the research stated?
What steps have been taken to ensure ethics have been considered?
Are the research questions appropriately considered?
Is the researcher’s relationship to the context of the research articulated/apparent?
Is the analysis of collected data clear and are the findings appropriate?
Are there clear implications for new theory and new practice?
Does the researcher include any further avenues for future work in the conclusion?
Include references to other authors who write about aspects of the research conducted.
