Critical Reflections: Sociology Assignment

Internal Code: MAS3912 Questions: You will be writing short reflection pieces for 9 sessions of this class: 2, 3, 4, 5, 8, 9, 10, 11, & 12. These short works are designed to get you to actively practice your writing, argumentation, and analysis skills before your two long-form essays in this class. You should think of them as opportunities to show your work and individual thinking as the intensive unit progresses. Each piece should be 150 words in length, and specifically should:

• Take a quote or key idea from one of the weekly readings;
• Assess the significance of that quote/idea relative to the sociology of deviance and difference (think: who, what, when, why and how?);
• You should not provide a summary but a critical reflection on the reading and a considered engagement with the ideas; and,
• Make a unique and individual argument about the overall quote/idea.
