Overview

This assignment requires you developing a sentiment analysis classifier for movie reviews. The classifier should be able to take a movie review as input and predict its overall sentiment (positive or negative). The classifier should be implemented in Python. The submission will be evaluated from two aspects: (i) the quality of the report and (ii) the performance of the submitted model on some held-out test data.

Data and Sample Code On the Moodle page of this coursework, you can find the following materials.

• Dataset. A dataset (coursework1_train.csv) with 40,000 data entries is provided. Each entry includes a movie review and a label that indicates its sentiment.

• Sample code. Two Jupyter Notebooks are provided: cw1-train.ipynb presents the sample code for reading the data, developing a simple model and saving the model; cw1-test.ipybn provides sample code for re-loading the saved model and applying it to test data to evaluate its performance.
