Part 1

Figure 1 below depicts a logical switch network to connect 2x LANs with a switch. LAN A is located at Building 18 in Joondalup Campus, and LAN B is at Building 34. Each LAN has 4 subnetworks including Faculty staff, Administration department, HR and Guest networks.

Your task is to design virtual networks using Layer 2 VLAN technology and allocate IP addresses with a subnet mask for each host (PC A – PC H) using IPv4 addressing. Using Table 1, complete the design tasks following the steps below.

Note that there are two (2) things to remember in VLAN design.

(1) hosts in the same VLAN must have the same VLAN ID, and

(2) hosts in the same VLAN must be in the same subnet range.

Step 1 – Pair hosts and allocate VLAN IDs in the VLAN ID column

Task 2:

Step 2 – Allocate IP addresses to each host in the IP Address column

Step 3 - Complete the Subnet mask column
