Highlights
Task description
The presentation of a concise clinical case report from an ultrasound examination performed by you.
What you need to do
Complete the case report following the guidelines in this document and provide relevant images. Each case report is a reflective account of an ultrasound examination you have performed and is planned and presented in an orderly, sequential and precise chronological manner. The report needs to outline all the important elements of patient care, ultrasound technology, clinical presentation and findings.
Guidelines:
An important element of professional clinical practice is effective concise written communication skills using appropriate referencing.
• A strict word limit of 2500 words +/- 250 words (including diagrams, figures, tables and in-text references, excluding a reference list) will be applied to this assessment. All assessors have been instructed not to assess written material beyond this limit.
• A template with suggested word limits for each section is outlined below.
• No reference should be made which will identify a patient. Names, initials, hospital record numbers, dates and personal details must not be included in the report or on any imaging. Written consent must be obtained from patients for the use of any photographs which can identify them.
• On the final page of your case report after the reference section provide 3 MCQs style questions that relate to the content of the case report
Academic Integrity
As a student of the QUT academic community, you are asked to uphold the principles of academic integrity during your course of study. QUT sets expectations and responsibilities of students, more specifically it states that students “adopt an ethical approach to academic work and assessment in accordance with this policy and the Student Code of Conduct (E/2.1)" (MOPP C/5.3 Academic Integrity).
Students are expected to demonstrate their own understanding and thinking using the ideas provided by ‘others’ to support and inform their work, always making due acknowledgement to the source. While we encourage peer learning, it is not appropriate to share assignments with other students unless your assessment piece has been stated as being a group assignment. If you do share your assignment with another student, and they copy part of or all of your assignment for their submission, this is considered collusion and you may also be reported for academic misconduct. Academic integrity includes self-plagiarism, "the re-use by a student of their own work without appropriate acknowledgement of the source. Students should seek express consent from the unit coordinator prior to re-using their own work in an assessment submission" (MOPP C/5.3.6 Academic Integrity).
