Appendix A shows personal information data from all the staffs in Simple Tech Sdn. Bhd. The list below explains the values given for the variables in the data set.

  • 1.Age is given in years.
  • 2.Educational level” values are defined as follows:
  • 0 = no high school degree 2 = moderate
  • 1 = high school graduate  3 = graduate degree
  • 3.Smoking status” values are defined as follows:
  •  0 = does not smoke
  •   1 = smokes less than one pack per day
  •   2 = smokes one or more than one pack per day
  • 4.“Exercise” is given in frequency of exercise in one week.
  • 5.“Weight” is given in pounds.
  • 6“Serum cholesterol” is given in milligram percent (mg%).
  • 7.“Systolic pressure” is given in millimetres of mercury (mm Hg).
  • 8.“IQ” is given in standard IQ test score values.
  • 9.“Sodium” is given in mill equivalents per litre (mEq/l).
  • 10.“Gender” is listed as male (M) or female (F).
  • 11.“Marital status” values are defined as follows:
  • S = single                                  M = married
  • W = widowed                             D = divorced

 

Based on information and data given in Appendix A, answer all the following questions.

1)State whether the data constitutes a population or a sample. Explain your reasons.
2)Categorize each variable as qualitative or quantitative. Classify the quantitative variables are discrete or continuous.                               
3)Identify level of measurements (nominal, ordinal, interval, ratio) for each variable. 
4)There are about 100 staffs in Simple Tech Sdn. Bhd. and a sample of 50 staffs will be chosen as respondents. You MUST use Excel in solving all questions below.
i.State the possible sampling frame for this case study.               
ii.Suggest a sampling technique that your group have chosen for this case study. (simple random sampling or systematic sampling or stratified sampling)
