Overview

Develop a cover for a book that is one of a series of publications that examine the meaning of Extra Sensory Perception (ESP) from a cultural perspective. Each book in the series examines a different form of ESP.

In this project we will be building on our understanding of type as an expressive medium of communication. However, rather than focusing on typographic form as we did in the first brief, our focus here we will be exploring how compositional approaches can be deployed to reinforce and inflect meaning.This project requires you to design a cover for a new series of books that investigates the paranormal from a cultural studies perspective. That is to say this series of books looks at what the existence of beliefs around paranormal phenomena say about our society and ourselves.You will be assigned a form of ESP to interpret typographically to create a bookcover pitched at a sophisticated, culturally aware audience. You will find a link to the ESP allocations in the RESOURCES section at the head of this page. Use the examples shown in the week 04 tutorial as a guide to the audience you will be addressing.
