I miss to explain defense mechanism of denial expressed by Lalatouai :At the time of the loss of her grand father she was in the rehab center where she felt forced and missunderstand. Her not feeling in the right place in her life she could not cope at the time with the reality of the death of a close person. I shall have explained that protective mechanism for her to feel less guilty. It would have strenghten the therapeutic trust in the client - therapist relationship.
Moreover , Explanation of Denial as the first stage of grief in the Kubler-Ross Model was important for her to understand that Grief is done step by step. This state is made numbness, shock as this life does not feeling real. Denial helps to pace the feeling of grief and once denial and shock start fading away; the process of healing begins.
I also did not do the Explanation of the treatment rational of the two-chair process:
even though the outcome of the treatment was positive the psychoeducational was missing and is very important to provide the client the understanding how the change can occur throught the process choosen. I have only given the process as she choose to wanting to talk to her gradn father to help her to grief.
The two-chair process is proven to be effective for griefing unfinished business. she explained she wanted to talk to him as she had not say certain th8ings . The process help the person to emotionaly intergrate what was left behind whether it is positive of negative . Confronting themselves help the client to move forward in a functional way in life. The two-chair process help self-acceptance and that is what she was looking for as she had a lot of should in her beliefs related to saying goodbye to her grand father. she litterally said she felt calm as her self and her internal critic met which created new cognititve schemas
Moreover , research shows that it is efficient for shoft of awarness and more dpth of exprience.
Critical linking I remind her what she told me in the past about her leadership role in community and his role as a leader for his country
HOPE sense of connection with her grand father
Sharing the things that she reflects all the th8ings she thought of because of him
In the chair process I integrated Moreno ( reverse role of the chair exercice ) and Gestalt two-chair exercice which maybe took too long as after the process I felt I rushed into finishing the session with instilling hope but I felt rushed.
building therapeutic relationship by normalizing things….
