Assignment Task

Critically analyse the place of trust in destination crisis recovery. Your reflective report will draw on and analyse your experiences concerning relationships and trust from the role play.

Your report should include reflection on your experiences as well as critically discuss concepts and theories and draw from the grey literature to illustrate your arguments where relevant.

Question

• Why are trustful relationships important in crisis recovery in a destination?
• How successfully did your team build trustful relationships? What was your contribution? Could you have done something more? Or different?
• How much did the relationships you built contribute to a successful outcome for you in the roleplay?
• What have you learnt about your own personal and cultural behaviours, values and assumptions – how did they shape/influence the way you engaged with people in the roleplay? 

Critical discussion of theories and concepts

The extent to which your answer demonstrates your understanding of any underpinning theory, analytical method, or other critical approach (eg cultural, sociological, psychological, where appropriate) and is able to critique those ideas. 

Reflective and Reflexive Analysis

The extent to which you are demonstrating self-awareness and develop a critically reflective perspective on the assignment topic. This includes (but is not limited to) consideration of own experience (action reactions behaviours and thoughts) during role play and seminars,( re-)examination of personal assumptions values and beliefs and how this supports your continued development (new ways of thinking and acting)

Understanding the Context – why is this an important topic

• What was the purpose and value of the roleplay?
• What terms need to be defined?
• Why is reflection valuable?
• Are you using a specific reflection tool/model?

Critical Discussion of Concepts and Theories - explain

• What concepts are useful in analysing the development of a trustful relationship?
• Are there models that show how trust is developed?

Reflective Analysis

• What events/incidents/examples in the role play illustrate these concepts and theories?
• What behaviours /perspectives / values are required for successful outcomes in these examples?
• What behaviours /perspectives /values were demonstrated in the examples? And by you?
• Can you speculate about why?
• Was there a preferred alternative behaviour / perspective /value? Why?
• How/Why did you demonstrate strengths in the examples discussed?
• Where are your areas for development?
