Recall from Topic 1 that socio-ecological (or social-ecological) models are “built-in part on notions of reciprocal determinism, which recognize interplay among individuals, groups, and their proximal and distal social environment…[they] are visual depictions of dynamic relationships among individuals, groups, and their environments…” To address this requirement, you could draw on the models covered in Topics 3 and 4 (i.e. Ottawa Charter for Health Promotion and Bronfenbrenner’s Ecological Model) to help you select relevant models. You are also welcome to select other relevant socio-ecological models (e.g. Mandala of Health, The Health Map, Barton and Grant's model).  

2. Discuss how the selected models can be used to demonstrate links between health, planning and sustainability. To address this requirement, you should include at least two examples of how the models have previously been applied to demonstrate these links and / or suggest how they could be used to effectively demonstrate the links. You could revisit the content from Topics 3 and 4 when addressing this requirement. 

3. Critique the selected models. To address this requirement, you need to outline the strengths and limitations of the models in terms of demonstrating the links between health, planning and sustainability. In other words, are the models effective tools for demonstrating the links or what additional elements do the models require to make them effective tools for practitioners working at the nexus of health, planning and sustainability? 4. Design a socio-ecological model. Based on your critique of the selected models, design a socio-ecological model that you feel effectively demonstrates the links between health, planning and sustainability.
