Highlights
Critical Media Product
You will select an existing piece of media to critically unpack for a hypothetical audience identified by you.
Your analyses must generate a learning opportunity for the audience that seeks to address a real-world problem. Real-world problems, such as those related to the environment, social issues, or current events, can serve as a starting point for educational activities.
You will apply the tenets of critical media literacy, such as analyzing discourses, codes, and conventions, criticizing stereotypes, dominant values, and ideologies, etc. to develop a synthesis of how the selected piece of media can be used for instructional purposes.
You need to use multiple features of app (e.g. text for in-text citations, captioning for hearing-impaired or silent viewing, the use of an avatar as a narrator or creator-as-narrator without background to guide viewership) to deliver key message and accomplish identified learning outcomes.
