Professional - I hope to start my work experience in a supported living environment. It will help me gain the knowledge and understanding of working in a health and social care setting that I need to complete my assignments. It will give me valuable experience for my future career in social work.

SMART PLAN - My professional goal is specific to my requirements for my course, and I am clearly working towards meeting this goal.  I am working towards completing this goal by finishing my 3-day induction period which is carried out by a team leader and completing my NISCC registration. During the induction period it is important for me to take notes and ask questions if something is not clear because I need to educate myself of the specific of my job role and what its intakes to ensure I can provide the best quality of care for service users. I will take this time to ask other member of staff if they have any advice because they were once in the same position as me – this can help prevent me from making similar mistake. I will take this time to thoroughly read policies, procedures, and care plans to ensure that I understand them before beginning my shift official day of work experience.

Connection to Practice Themes - My professional goa links to theme 1 ‘law, Regulations and Ethical Practice’ because I will be educating myself on company policies and procedures and registering with NISCC. My goals links to theme 5 ‘Professional values attitudes and behaviours in health and social care’ because during my 3-day induction I am focusing on learning the skills that need to carry out routine tasks for service users and I am potentially trying to prevent any barriers by asking questions and trying to plan for potential areas where I may make mistakes.
