Highlights
Assessment requirements:
In this assessment, you are required to consider a system. According to the classification of the systems based on their complexity (see. Fig.1), the system should be a physical system, and out of that, you have to choose a mechanical system e.g., a holonomic autonomous mobile robot system

When the system is chosen, then the system should be described based on the system definition. Notice that, you should not just simply define a system in general, but you need to borrow the concept of system definition and compare it to your system, then define your system.
All the system’s parameters should be identified, e.g. an autonomous mobile robot, input/control variables, output variables and state variables.
The physical laws which are applied to mathematical model creation for that particular system have to be identified and well explained.
The principal operation of the system should be explained.
The relationship between the input/control variables and the output variables should be clearly stated using either difference or differential equation, therefore, you need to justify the following terms for your system:
• The system is linear or non-linear?
• The system is continuous or discrete time?
• The system is deterministic or stochastic?
• The system is lumped or distributed?
In all the above-mentioned questions, you need to explain why you think that your chosen system is categorised as one term rather than the other term.
The mathematical modelling and equation of the system are required. This is not limited to just the time domain equation.
Simplification of the system, Laplace transformation and linearization has advantages.
The block diagram, including the figure of the system, and the free-body diagram is highly required.
The feedforward transfer function of the system which must be used for the state variables is required.
The format of the assessment should be similar to a thesis, however, in this assessment “Abstract” is not required.
The main body is comprised of the following sections:
• Introduction, problem statement, literature review (could be merged with the introduction in case of word limitation), methodology, result, conclusion, and references.
• For the references, you must follow the IEEE referencing style.
