Highlights
Task:
Implement a model of a robot to be deployed in an exploration mission for a rescue operation.
Three parts for this assignment. Even though there parts, submit one form of executive report. Will be mentioned at the end
First part:
Design of robot structure: Chasis, body, drive, etc
Required to design a mobile robot capable of navigating safely on an environment to explore it. Should be done using a CAD software such as Creo or SolidWorks. Should produce STL files. From these files produce the visual and collision meshes of the robot in ROS. Should finally produce a URDF file where the robot model is completely defined. The model should be displayed in Gazebo. Customise the robot by changing colour of the body, etc. Give the robot a name to reflect its character and purpose. Robot should look similar to this
Once the robot is made, please take a picture of the robot moving in gazebo.
Appendices
You should use appendices where you include the detail of all the steps you have gone through to complete the design of the model of the robot. The appendices should include a detailed section for each of requirement specification, the design, the model, how you achieved the model using the CAD files. A reflection section on what worked, what did not work, what are the lessons learnt and skills acquired.
Code
This will include any code you have written or used to complete the assignment. This will also include all the .stl, xacro, urdf and any other files. All code and CAD drawings should be appropriately documented and annotated.
This should be named and put on the same word file as appendix part 1 - code
Second part:
• create a .world file in which the robot designed in the first part will navigate.
• add a sensor suitable for creating a map of the world.
• use gmapping to create a .map file of the world.
• test different navigation scenarios.
In the second part, start by creating and launching a world file in Gazebo.
The world file will represent an indoor space that has at least four walls, one door and one window and has the following objects on its floor:
1. at least one chair,
2. at least one coffee table,
3. one book shelf,
4. at least one sphere,
5. at least one cube,
