The local council which governs One Tree Hill wants to improve their waste management practices in the suburb and, to this end, engaged consultants to audit their waste streams during 2018. The council now wants you to analyse the data from these audits (as well as other data provided) to evaluate their solid waste management practices and make recommendations to improve these practices where necessary and appropriate.

Background 

One Tree Hill is predominantly a residential area with only a few shops and other businesses (<1% of premises). It was established around 1950 with most of the land subdivided for housing by 1965.  Original houses were typically detached, modest, 2- or 3-bedroom homes on large blocks (around 1000 ha or the old quarter acre). However, in the 1980s and 1990s, many blocks were redeveloped into flats and apartments, or subdivided into 2 or more smaller blocks with townhouses or smaller houses built. Since then there has been little new development or subdivisions – hence the population size has been very stable over last 10 years. According to the last Australian Government Census in 2016, there were 11,895 residents living in One Tree Hill belonging to 2964 families.
