SECTION B SEMESTER 2 2020 (TOTAL= 80 marks)

Design a mid size restaurant. All students will have to incorporate a number of building  components and features which are listed below the table.

The site sizes for each student are listed in the table below. Your start file which you will  download from Moodle BET205 site, folder BET205EXAM is called ExamStartV20.rvt. The  pre-loaded site size is 12 x 30 metres.

This must be changed to your allocated Frontage & Depth of land size in the table below

1. Build up to the site boundary on all sides. You must edit the red Detail Lines to  change the site from 12000x32000 to the site size allocated to you in the above  table. The colour was set to red using the Override Graphics Tool in the Modify |  Lines tab.

2. The Restaurant walls are precast reinforced concrete unconnected height from  ground level 3600mm. Use generic 150mm wall for external walls.

3. The whole of your ground floor area to be covered with a roof slab at first floor  level 3600mm above ground floor level. However, this restaurant will use part of  this level as a roof garden.

4. This is a commercial building so you will have to include Grid lines along every  horizontal and vertical row of columns. Since you are using a reinforced concrete  roof, reinforced square concrete columns 300 x 300 at a spacing of  approximately 5000mm centres (At Grids & Tag on Placement), will be needed to  support the weight of the roof. The 14 columns should be along the perimeter of  the longest sides of the building; running along the inside edge of the external  walls.

5. Stairs up to the roof level will be required, with a landing,12 x 150 mm risers to  the landing and another 12 x 150 mm risers up to the roof level. Minimum width  of stair to 1000 mm.

6. Position the stair landing halfway along the ground floor.

7. This means you have a significant opening on the roof. Cover this area and the  front half of the roof terrace approximately, by extending the unconnected height  of the first 4 pairs of columns to 7000 mm. Add a flat roof over these columns (at  level 2= 7000 mm).

8. Since the roof is an open air terrace the only walls required are 1500 mm high  100 mm generic walls to act as a safety barrier, aligned with the inside of the  terrace columns.
