RESEARCH OBJECTIVE
1. To design and implement efficient hydro turbine management unit with integration control using intelligent approach fuzzy-PID flow control and PI load controller.
2. To observe and analyse the performance of frequency response with load reduction and harmonic distortion.
3. To provide short term power balancing and energy management with implementation battery energy storage system during critical period.
This research is significant for at least two reasons:
First, integration of both by adding intelligent approach Fuzzy-PI control on turbine side (valve) and PID control on generator side (load) will show an efficient and better performance of frequency response in terms of overshoot time, transient response and steady state error.
Second, battery energy storage system consider the most effective energy storage technology for rural electrification purpose. It is added for the purpose of short term power balancing & long term energy management during high electricity demand and breakout period which is consider first implementation at least in Borneo, Malaysia.
At the end, when the study is valued it will have the following outcomes:
It will provide more stable power for the customers by implement efficient turbine management unit with integrating both controller and BES system in standalone Pico hydro system.
It can be used as pilot project for future research improvement purpose.
For these reasons, the system described in this work is different from prior work.
