1. Design a band pass filter with half power frequencies of 5kHz and 10kHz. Show your calculations used to determine the component values. 

2. Create and simulate the circuit in MultiSim. Include a copy of your schematic in your report.

3. Create a graph to show how your design meets the specifications. Use cursors to label the critical frequencies and gains. Include some text to describe your findings.

4. What is the voltage gain in the “pass band”?

5. Measure the “roll off” (slope) of the sides of the filter. Show your measurement technique on a “new” (not the same as step 3) graph. 

Part 2: Band Stop Filter 

1. Design a band stop filter to block 60Hz. Show your calculations used to determine the component values. 

2. Create and simulate the circuit in MultiSim. Include a copy of your schematic in your report.

1. How would you redesign the circuit to increase the slope of the sides of the filter in Part 1?

2. For Part 1, you could use a variety of combinations of components and get the same filter response. What are some things to consider when selecting values? What consequences come from choosing very large or very small values? Evaluate your own selections. (Hint: consider the input impedance of your circuit.)

3. Is there another topology you could have used for your design in Part 2? (Hint: review Lab 8 and your text.) Describe it in detail or show a schematic. Compare and contrast your design to the alternative.
