After identifying a product of interest to your future studies and/or career, you are to undertake the following:
1. Provide some background research on the demand for this particular product, and how DFMA may be beneficial.
2. Model an existing or representative part in SolidWorks, and perform a quantitative assessment of the product. This may include estimating its mass, cost, production method, material selection, etc… You should include and engineering drawing of this part in your final report.
3. Using the knowledge gained from the module and independent research, rigorously integrate DFMA in the redesign of your product. You should clearly present the intended DFMA of your product.
4. This should lead to a new SolidWorks part, and the same metrics you wills have defined in, thus allowing you to provide an evaluation of your new product against the original design. You should include and engineering drawing of this part in your final report.
5. Identify relevant areas of future work for the DFMA of your product (these need not be undertaken at this stage), followed by a short conclusion of your work and main findings.
