The goal of this project is to apply the skills students learned during VLSI design course to a moderate size problem of a complete chip design. The project must fit on a 1.5 x 1.5 mm 40-pin MOSIS “TinyChip” fabricated in a 0.6 μm process. In this project the students will be asked to design a circuit for Operational Amplifier or simply Op-amp. The Op-amp is one of the most frequently and widely used electronic component in variety of applications such as AC and DC signal amplification, filters, oscillators, voltage regulators, comparators and in most of the consumer and industrial devices. The students will design a chip for a simple op amp. A complete cycle of a chip design will be followed.

The students will perform the following steps:

1. Schematic of design

2. Layout of design

3. Placing layout in a padfram

4. And finally generating GDSII file for fabrication
