Task Description

You have been asked to provide structural engineering consulting services for a residential project. The project is a three-story residential building, with a structural steel frame, composite concrete-steel slabs, and a flat roof supported on timber joists The client has provided you with the architect’s sketches, which, however, might be inaccurate from a structural perspective. A junior structural engineer in your practice has also done some calculations, based on the architect’s sketches, and provided you with the following information:

• Permanent loads on the roof groof = 1.0 kN/m2.
• Permanent loads on the slabs are gslab = 1.5 kN/m2.
• Permanent loads of the walls are gwalls = 5.0 kN/m.
