Introduction:
In this mid-term project, I will be designing a 9 pieces screwdriver. Everything that was learned in this class helped me to accomplish this project. First, I started with taking the measurements of all the pieces. I designed each piece separately and then assembled all of them at the end. Extrusion features and loft features were commonly used in accomplishing this project. Below is a detailed explanation of how each piece was designed.
Screwdriver handle
? The screwdriver handle is accomplished using a loft feature.
? 6 planes were added in addition to the front plane.
? Circles and polygons were sketched on the planes.
? Using Spline feature, the main shape for the screwdriver was drawn.
? The planes are then lofted together
? Extrude feature is then used to connect plane 1 with the front plane.
? Using Extrude cut, a hole was created on the top.
? Another hole was extruded on the bottom.
Rubber part
? A plane was added in reference to plane 1.
? A circle was sketched on each plane (one circle larger than the other).
? Loft feature was used to connect both circles
? Extrude cut feature was used to cut through the object.
? Another plane was created and was drawn on to create this circular looking shape and then extruded it.
? The circular and linear pattern was used to duplicate it all around the object.
? A rectangle was drawn and extruded inside the rubber object.
? Using a circular pattern it was duplicated.
? Finally, some filleting was done.
Handle cap
? A circle was sketched and then extruded it.
? A smaller circle was sketched on top of the 1st circle and then extruded.
? Fillet feature was used on the top surface
? A hole was then extruded cut on the 2nd circle
Metal piece
? A circle was sketched and then extruded.
? A polygon was then sketched on top on the circle and extruded cut.
? The fillet was applied to the top surface.
Screws holder
? A polygon was sketched and then extruded.
? It was then filleted.
? Extrude cut feature was then used to cut a hole through it.
? A circle was sketched and then extruded cut.
Conclusion:
In conclusion, this project was accomplished successfully. All the parts were assembled together. Everything learned in this class helped me to achieve the final design.
