- Design a lesson plan on teaching phonics. Refer to the English (HL) CAPS (2011) document for term one and two and plan an English phonics lesson.
- Refer to the aims in the phonics content area in the CAPS (2011) document to guide you.
- Use the game you are designing as the primary teaching aid for the body of the lesson.
- You can also use other teaching aids in the introduction and conclusion of the lesson.
- Choose a phonic sound to teach, which can be an initial sound or it can be part of an onset and rime. 

Section B Designing a board game Guidelines
- Refer to the lesson plan brief in Section B above for designing your game.
- Design a board game that should be used in groups by learners based on the phonic sound you have chosen for your lesson plan.
- The English phonic words should also be translated into either Sesotho/IsiZulu.
- The purpose of including the Sesotho/IsiZulu translation of the English words is to promote an awareness of the equivalent of the English word.
- You are not teaching the Sesotho/IsiZulu phonic, you are merely exposing learners to the equivalent word.
- Your game should be aesthetically pleasing and include child friendly pictures.
- Use junior font/century gothic (bold) for the vocabulary words.

Submission of the game
You are required to include the following:
- A picture of the rules and instructions of the game.
- A picture of the exterior and interior of the game.
- A picture of the English vocabulary words.
- A picture of the Sesotho/isiZulu translation of the words.
