A CAT 631G single engine scraper and a D10 dozer will be used to move earth on a project. Answer the questions using the information provided below. Speed curves and other charts are provided in CAT Manual on canvas. Please attached the charts and tables clearly showing the selected values.

The empty weight of the scraper is 105,000 lbs and the heaped capacity is 34 lcy. The bank unit weight of the earth being hauled is 100 lbs/ft3 and the swell factor is 1.14. The tire penetration is 1 inch for both loaded and unloaded states.

SECTION 4 – EXCAVATOR-HAULER PRODUCTION (Total 25 pts)
A 320D excavator with a heaped bucket capacity of 3 cubic yard bucket will be used to excavate hard tough clay. The excavator will load haulers and the haulers will travel 3500 feet from the loading area to the dump site. The haulers will return on the same haul road. The hauler capacity is 12 cy. The average speed over the haul segment will be 15 miles per hour and over the return segment (empty) will be 29 miles per hour. Assume the truck will take 2 minutes to maneuver and dump its load. The efficiency of the entire operation is 55 minutes per hour. The swell factor for the material is 1.10. Use average values when ranges are provided in the tables or graphs.
