An enterprise that uses a commercial space to create 10 rooms (as shown in the figure below) aims to develop a smart workspace IoT system to lower the cost of electricity. To this end, multi-sensor devices that monitor the temperature and light level (as well as appropriate actuators) will be placed in each room. Each of the multi-sensor devices supports a Bluetooth Classic (v1.x) connection.
Assume that Bluetooth devices acting as a Master device can be deployed in the corridor as shown in the space layout.
 

Part A
What is the minimum number of piconets required for the deployment of these devices and why? Determine 
a) how many Master devices are needed in order to form a scatternet connecting all of the multi-sensor devices
b) Identify appropriate location(s) for the Master device(s) assuming that

i) the maximum sensitivity of any slave multi-sensor device is -60 dBm,
ii) the appropriate path loss model is considered for determining the received power, 
iii) the Master Device(s) can only be placed along the dashed line as shown in the space layout.
 

Part B
Revisit the above questions assuming that due to cost reasons the receivers have a lower sensitivity of -40 dBm and the transmitting power for all devices should be power class II 
To determine the path loss, consider the following: 
i) the reference distance of all devices is 1 m, 
ii) the average power loss at the reference distance is 6 dBm, 
iii) to determine the path loss exponent, n, use the following formula n = min[(4 + ((Σxi) / 25)), 6], where Σxi is the summation of the digits of your student ID.
