Outline The purpose of this assignment is to

1) allow you to develop your R skills in packages not covered, or on only briefly covered, in the lectures and

2) give you practice on producing a piece of replicatable research. Data Find your own data that you wish to visualize a pattern, trend or relationship. You must do all the data cleaning and manipulations in R. You will get higher marks for using the functions for importing, tidying and wrangling data from the tidyverse set of packages. Visualisation To visualize the data you must use one of the following R packages to create a single plot:

• gganimate W for animations using ggplot2

• sf W for geographic maps in R

• shiny W for interactive web applications

• rayshader for 3D versions of ggplot • ggalluvial W for alluvial Diagrams in ggplot2

• Any other ggplot extension listed at http://www.ggplot2-exts.org W You will get higher marks for more interesting plots and having good finishing touches, such as sensible labels and titles, easy to understand and different from you classmates. Submit Use the write_up.Rmd file as a template to produce an HTML document. Follow the instructions in the file. You should submit a .zip folder including

• write_up.Rmd with the write up and R script to read in your data, tidy the data and perform the plot.

• write_up.html with the output from your .Rmd file.

• data-raw folder with the original data file that you downloaded. Make sure all of your code works before submitting. We will run your code on our computers to test the it works. It might not work if you forget to include code to load packages that are required for your analysis or intermediate R objects that you might have created in a different R script. Test your code works by opening an new, fresh, RStudio session and press the “Knit” button. Check the output is what you expect. The deadline is the 25th November 2020 at 6pm
