Introduction
You are developing a prototype web site for the new Australian Government Department of E-Transport. The web site you are required to develop is required to provide information about alternative e-vehicles (cars, trucks, and bicycles). When you have completed your work (in the form of Assignment 1) it is intended that your web site will undergo some additional evaluation (i.e. assessment) and then, if successful, be developed as the web site for the E-transport department.
The Department of E-transport Web Site
The Department of E-transport is a new department which seeks to promote E-transport in all its forms.
The Department of E-transport needs a Web site, the portal to the department, which reflects its goals. The design of the web site should be simple, attractive, easy to navigate, responsive to the needs of the visitor, and should showcase companies and organisations involved in E-transport, and their work.
The minimum requirements will be:
A welcome page as the entry point to the department’s Web site. This page should be simple but entice the interested browser to look further into the site. It should also contain basic information about the department.
From the entrance or welcome page there should be links to the major sections of the example site. These are:
A section describing the department. How long it has been in operation, where it is located, its goal of assisting E-transport to be successful in all its forms.
An E-transport company section, which provides details concerning all the E-transport companies currently reviewed by the department including a short description describing their products:
Type: Truck, SUV, utility, sedan, bicyle.
Variant: Luxury, economy, commercial.
There should be at least five companies listed. Each company described should have a link to a single page dedicated to that company. The company page should contain:
The logo of the company.
A link to the companies web site.
A brief history of the company's involvement in E-transport.
A minimum of 2 products the company has produced. Each product listed should show a picture of the product and include a brief description of its chief features.
A report section justifying your design decisions. Why this is a good design, how this design conforms to Web standards, how this design conforms to Accessibility standards. How users will find it easy to navigate on any device. Why the department should adopt your design. The “report” section must be an integral part of the overall design and conform to the overall design. Do not treat this section any differently to the other sections listed above.
The example site must be usable on any sized device (it must be responsive) and each page must print well. That is, the print copy must not include unnecessary images or elements, but contain the key information of the page. This includes the report section.

• A Department logo, that you have created, which should appear on every page. This should be a PNG image (you may have to read ahead to Chapter 7: Multimedia)Note: The logo is to be your own creation (other images on the site do not).

• You must use well formed HTML5/XHTML5 markup. Except the table element is not to be used anywhere. There is no data to display so there is not need for this element to appear anywhere on your site.
• Always use the appropriate HTML element if it exists—do not over-use div and span elements.
• All links should work. All links should be relative to the document they are in - that is links should NOT contain
• A machine name, or
• start with a slash, and
• the HTML base element should not be used.
• Your site must work using Google Chrome (or Chromium), as this will be the browser used to mark your submission.
• Consider HTML5 markup to be similar to any other programming language. As such, pay attention to your coding style, e.g., your markup should:
• Be simple and straight forward.
• Be documented, e.g., comments near the top of each document and on major sections of the document. Be aware that XML comments should not appear before the XML tag of XHTML documents as it can upset some parsers.
• Have meaningful CSS class/id attribute names.
• Have an appropriate layout, e.g., consistent indentation and use of white space.
• As HTML5 is mandated, all style changes to HTML elements can only be accomplished using style commands.
• Do not use style commands needlessly—creating a class name, when an HTML element already exists that could do the task.
• Effort is expected to be taken with the style of the site via CSS—half a dozen minor changes to text or element backgrounds is not sufficient.
• Consider CSS code to be similar to any programming language. As such, pay attention to your coding style, e.g., your code should:
• Be simple and elegant and straight forward.
• Be documented, e.g., comments at top of each document and on major sections, Comments can be placed in CSS files using the C begin comment-end comment style /* ... */
• Use meaningful id and class names.
• Have an appropriate layout, e.g., consistent indentation and use of white space.
• Modularity, reuse and visibility, e.g., appropriate choice of CSS style rules and selectors, e.g., single use of user defined IDs.

• It is recommended to clone this repository when you start work on the assignment, as described in the documentation, and then to regularly update the repository with your updates to your assignment. • Git Repository Operational Steps
• After cloning the repository into a directory on your computer, which will create an empty directory (except for a .git subdirectory). After this, all the work in your project should be carried out in this directory (or another one cloned in the same way). As files are created and modified, the following steps should take place, in order for your work to be stored in the repository. In all cases below, the commands should be entered in a git-for-bash terminal, with current directory set to the one you cloned, if you are using Windows, or in an ordinary terminal, if you are running Linux or MacOS.
• When a new file is added, e.g. file.xhtml, it should be added to the repository like so:
