Questions

Based on the readings for that week, highlight what you consider to be two important considerations when thinking of the specific theme in the context of social justice and you as an employee in education.

In your critical reflection:

• Be Explicit about what these considerations are;
• Be Explicit about why you so situate these considerations;
• Be Explicit about the connections between your considerations and you as an employee (for social justice);

Knowledge

We examined a number of readings in Unit 4, and I want to see evidence that students have studied these materials. Students demonstrate this by drawing on and synthesizing these materials in their responses. Students should explicitly draw on ALL the resources for the week in question.

Analysis

Students should be able to present and defend their reasoned positions on the materials examined in the unit. They should be able to extend the information presented in the readings or otherwise refute or critique this information by drawing on resources and/or their own experiences.

Critical thinking

Students should be in tune to the context in which they work and the ways the status quo supports and perpetuates certain/dominant ideologies and norms but at the same time ignores or silences other ways of knowing, being, and doing. I am looking for evidence of students’ evolving, perceptive and discerning gaze on the structures that inform what work is in the Saskatchewan/Canadian context (and conversely, what work is not) and their role as employees in supporting a social justice vision of work throughout their work life cycle as employees in education.
