In our digital age, we post, share, like, and tag images of ourselves and others with the click of a button, often without thinking about the consequences. These images become =uid things that then circulate in a digital space. We also cherish material images made at symbolic points in life and keep them for ourselves.
Description
For this assignment, you will produce a composite double self-portrait that “twins the self.” In other words, you will clone two or more images of yourself into one image to produce a composite self-portrait that looks at different aspects of your identity. to produce a composite self-portrait that looks at diEerent aspects of your identity. You will employ photography skills in addition to digital compositing skills.
What is a composite photograph?
A composite photograph is made from two or more diEerent photographs. You might be wondering, “Well, how is that diEerent from a collage?” When compositing an image, we are combining separate photobased image sources into a single image to create the illusion that all of the elements used in the photograph make complete and perfect sense in reality and the Hnal image. For example, you might combine a person from one photograph, the sky from another photograph, and the foreground from a third photograph to create a landscape composite.
It is important that you take some time to review this assignment and to carefully consider how you want to represent yourself. This is your chance to be as personal as possible in whichever way you feel comfortable.
