Students will investigate a specific instance of discrimination in the community that impacts on the health and wellbeing of those experiencing it and are encouraged to devise strategies to minimise the discrimination and/or the health impact. Students will choose one of two situations in which access to a health/wellbeing facility may be restricted by discrimination and/or stigma. They will research and describe, for this situation: a) What forms stigma and/or discrimination may take b) Who is affected by these and how they are affected c) What the impact may be on the health/wellbeing of those affected d) What strategies might be used in the host community to reduce the impact of stigma and/or discrimination Materials which may be used to address item d) above may be produced, but should be at least outlined/sketched.
