Context

Bicycle manufacturers to have more control over their designs, they need to rapidly be able to develop new components and respond to markets quicker, and improving their design. Being able to design and develop and make products allows the manufacturing strategy to be more agile. It could also be seen as a way to create a more resilient economy in the long term.

Design Assessment

The first task is to review the bicycle CAD model supplied with this assignment 

Design the missing part: The front wheel of the bike lacks any connecting mechanism to the frame. By demonstrating your understanding of how the mechanics work, design a part from scratch that can create this connection. o You must ensure the part is created with the following in mind:

• Uses 3-5 parts in total

• Uses the dimensions below as a guide

• Needs to be aesthetically pleasing (may not need to match illustration's styling)

• Have a good overall strength by considering the thickness of the material considered, and the geometry you sketch for your parts. You may want to use annotations to explain how your design addresses the above requirement.

Design an accessory of choice: The design should aim to be attached to the front fork/connector/handlebar. The accessory needs to be able to demonstrate clearly how it can be attached to the new parts. The accessory needs to be explained in terms of the forces taking place whilst the bike is on the move. There will be no need to use FEA or stress analysis to show this data in the report.

Produce the technical drawing of the new parts: The design models should be supplemented by your production of original technical drawings including any additional specification points not considered in the brief of the new parts only. You may want to include a general arrangement drawing of the assembly if you wish.
