In this subject you have examined the relationship between materials and storytelling, and through experimentation and the perceptive nature of materials, how meaning can be intertwined. You have explored the design process, built hands-on ideation skills, and developed an understanding of the use of storytelling in design. This final task allows you to draw together the knowledge and skills that you have developed to create and present and reflect on your completed module/sculpture. Remember that you may choose to design, for example, a product, a fashion garment, a fashion embellishment, an interior space, an architectural form, an item of signage, branding collateral or even an artistic exploration of your own story.
In order to refine your ideas, you will undertake workshops and peer evaluation exploring the sustainability and ethical manufacturing considerations for your design.
You will then complete the design process by building your final designed sculpture. The process of this stage will form the final part of your journal (8-10 pages) and should include a 500-word (+/- 10%) reflective review on the creative methods employed, as well as the sustainable and ethical manufacturing considerations applied.
Once complete, you will need to photograph your model/sculpture, and then enhance the photograph using appropriate software. Both the unedited and digitally enhanced versions of the photograph will need to be included in the presentation.
Key aspects of the project will be presented through an audio recording (e.g. voiced over PowerPoint or recorded on Adobe Acrobat) for online students, or an in-class presentation in Module 12 for face-to-face students. (Note: for intensive classes, submission will be in Module 6)
Both on campus and online students will need to create 5-8 slides to speak to during their presentation. The slides should adhere to the following structure:
Slide 1 Unedited picture of sculpture (face to face students may also choose to physically present their sculpture)
Slide 2 Digital representation ofsculpture (enhanced using appropriate software)
Slide 3 Mood board from Assessment 2 with any additional updates (elaborate on story behind piece)
Slides 4 – 5 Justification for the material selection based on sustainability and ethical manufacturing considerations
Slides 6 –8 Refection on the design process
