Report Writing Assignment:

Scenario: Kent Institute is looking to setup a Computer Services Centre to be run by IT students servicing the community. This will allow students to gain real life experience and hands on confidence when working in the IT Industry. It will also provide a much needed service for those in the community who cannot afford to pay for costly IT Services or who are non-profit. The types of services provided would include:

1. Computer First Aid - Locating and rectifying computer hardware/software problems
2. Computer Maintenance
3. One on One training of users in basic IT skills
4. Setting up small networks on client sites
5. Setting up small websites for individuals and community groups
6. Setting up new hardware and software
7. Creating templates and small databases for individuals and community groups

Task 1:  Code of ethics Using the above scenario you will need to consider the ethical issues surrounding the new service. Produce a code of ethics for students when working in the Computer Service Centre and dealing with the public, teachers and other students.You will need to investigate and review industry standards, policies and legislations to understand the wider context of ethics.  Create your code of ethics based on that review.Make sure that you collect feedback from stakeholders (including students and teachers). Integrate the feedback as appropriate into your code of Ethics and then produce your finalised code of ethics.In your Code of Ethics ensure that you cover the following areas: 1.1. Protecting the interests of clients:

1. Integrity and security of information
2. Potential conflicts of interest
3. Confidentiality and proprietary rights of clients
4. Client communications

1.2. Producing quality products and services:

1. Provision of products and services which match the operational and financial needs of clients
2. Value for money for clients
3. Maintaining and work to industry and international standards
4. Implementing quality processes when developing products and maintaining service

1.3. Ensure correct representation:

1. Present skills, knowledge and qualifications in a professional manner
2. Acknowledgement of any services and products produced by others
3. Providing unbiased information to clients
4. Providing realistic estimates for work.
