Highlights
Task description
Health professionals often present their work at conferences in the form of a ePoster. Having the digital skills and a reliable methodology for researching, evaluating, and producing resources makes the process more efficient and produces superior material.
The goal of this assessment is to generate your own ePoster that demonstrates your ability to research and understand the anatomy/physiology of the human body. Your target audience is your peers, who have an understanding of physiology, but may not know how your process works.
In this assignment, you will demonstrate your knowledge of human biology and how the body’s systems work. This is important, as the body is not a set of separate parts operating independently, and each system has an impact on the others. You will learn how to create an ePoster and will have the opportunity to reflect on how you sourced, selected, and synthesised the information.
An understanding of Human Biology is vital to managing health care. Health care professionals are expected to both know individual body parts, but also how systems work, so that they have a holistic view of the patient and the patient’s physiological profile.
PowerPoint Section A: ePoster
Create an online ePoster about ONE process from ONE of the below topics
Cells, Nervous System, Special Senses, Bones and Joints, Muscles, Cardiovascular System, or Blood.
You will need to choose a process that occurs in the human body from the topics listed, but that is not presented in the course, and make a ePoster describing the steps in this process. Your process should not be a pathology, but a normal process in the body. You should demonstrate an in-depth understanding of the physiology of this process and be able to explain this to a colleague using the correct terminology.
For example, a process within the muscles topic may be the sliding filament model. However, this process is presented in the course, and so the ePoster should extend beyond what is presented in the course.
The ePoster is an explanation, with images, of a process within a body system. There is an ePoster template with formatting details provided (see attachment below), however, you can create your own template if the size of the slide remains the same. While there is no word count for the ePoster, information should be presented succinctly (e.g. in dot-points), and concise delivery of information will be assessed through the rubric.
