This case study is to be used as reference for questions 1-3.

The UK Parliament hires you and your colleagues to deliver a report that will enlighten the Parliament about the labour market status of gay individuals in the UK labour market. They provide you with a dataset which includes information on wages, education, work experience, gender, and sexual orientation of individuals in the UK.

Question

1) Use the dataset “Final main.dta” available on Moodle.

• Write down a regression model to estimate the wage disparities observed between gay individuals and heterosexual men.

• Estimate the model and export the results into a table using a Stata command. Carefully interpret the results.

• Copy the lines from your do file here. Include comments in your do file such that the purpose of each line is clear to the reader. You should include ALL the lines from your do file.

2) Use the theories of discriminations discussed during the lectures to explain these findings. 

3) A colleague argues that you cannot attribute these differences in wages to discrimination. Do you agree with your friend? Why or why not?
