Overview

Length Weighting Due The third assessment required you to respond to a case study of a young person with complex issues living in a residential care setting (Out-of-Home Care) utilising evidence informed Youth Work practice through the form of an essay.

Purpose

The purpose of this assessment task is to demonstrate your understanding and application of the theories that inform Trauma Informed Practice.

Instructions

To get started, work in groups breaking down a case study for this assessment and please follow the below structure for your essay.

1. Select a case study and conrm your group for Assessment 3 (Interactive Group Presentation);

2. Write your essay individually following the below structure:

a. Introduction: Articulate what the essay is about, clear introduction providing a context and description to the particular cohort of young people;

b. Dening what the complex needs are, what types experiences these young people have had supported with literature from the readings list;

c. What is Therapeutic Residential Care (TRC) and Why is a TRC approach the preferred intervention?;

d. Consider 3 of the LAC domains to respond to the young person’s needs, ensuring you consider youth work practice include. The key here is to discuss how you would apply the theories learnt in class. Provide a solid and informed discussion applying three theories that inform Trauma informed practice to the LAC domains chosen. Relating this to the specic case study, providing context and understanding of how to work with the young people, providing detailed insight and understanding that is supported by evidence; and 

e Conclusion.

1. Well informed description of Therapeutic Residential care (TRC). Explaining what informs this practice and why this is the chosen practice in the current residential care system. Supported by literature from the readings list.

2. What Informs Trauma Informed practice and how do these relate to the LAC areas. Context and understanding in relation to the case study.
