ASSIGNMENT 1: (PowerPoint presentation)
You are required to compile an informative PowerPoint presentation that will be given to the parents of the children in your FP class (any grade) during your first introductory parent/teacher meeting of the year. The purpose of the information presented is to communicate to the parents your classroom management style and administrative tasks they should be aware of to make the management of the learning environment optimal. Your PowerPoint presentation must have an introduction cover slide with the words “Introduction to my classroom” and your name. The last slide must be the Honour Pledge. Be sure to include critical notes at the bottom of each PowerPoint slide. Maximum is 12 slides. (Cover + 10 slides + Honour Pledge)

Interview (and observe his/her teaching if possible) an FP teacher on his/her approach to managing behaviour and discipline (and the role parents play in this process) in the classroom, and how this fits into his/her school’s approach to discipline. You are required to then critique and reflect upon what you have learnt about approaches to discipline and the involvement of parents in this process, and how you would approach creating a positive learning environment.
You must:
Use the readings, resources, tutorials and other material provided on FUNDA in all the lessons in Unit Three and Four or elsewhere in the module. While extra credit will be given for further research (this should not be from web-based sources only, but mainly academic resources such as journals), the task is assessing whether you have engaged with FUNDA resources adequately, and have formed opinions about your teaching practice based on academic research. This means that you should read extensively, make notes of the main points of articles and then use these points to write your views in your essay.
Show your understanding of the readings and material on FUNDA and use them to inform your opinion. Your essay should, therefore, communicate your view on what is needed from education in the FP in the 21st century and how legislation regulates aspects of education and therefore the achievement of educational outcomes. Readings should inform your thinking, and you should synthesise, interpret and discuss the application to your context.
Use in-text referencing appropriately (see Academic Guidelines 2017 on FUNDA) and include a final reference list. Be sure to give the total number of words at the end of the assignment.
