Task: You are to prepare a digital presentation (and speaking notes), analysing if and how having English as an Additional Language (EAL/D) may impact other areas of development in children from birth to age five.

What is a digital presentation? A digital presentation is a presentation that the audience can access without the presenter being physically present. The presentation requires different skills and techniques to keep the audience engaged. • Can I use something other than PowerPoint? This depends. The presenation must have information presented multimodal format with voiceover AND video recording of you on the presentation.
• Do I need to reference the presentation? Yes. Use APA 7 formatting to support your presentation on the actual presentation – meaning throughout.
• Do I need to reference the speaking notes? Yes. Same as above.
• Is there a word count?
• No. Be mindful of your limit of 5 minutes for the digital presentation. There is only so many words you can say in a 5 minute presentation. Focus on meeting the duration limit of 5 minutes ONLY.
• It states 1000 equivalent. What does this mean? Do I need to write 1000 words in my speaking notes?
• This means that the word count assigned to this task is based on the percentage. The word ‘equivalent’ means equal to. For accreditation purposes all assessments are assigned a word equivalence, but the assessment may be different formats, based on the learning outcomes.
• No, it does not mean you are to meet 1000 words in your speaking notes. There is no word limit.
• Is there a limit of slides?

• Can you recommend the number of slides it should be?
• You could start with 10 slides as a guideline. It depends on what information you are putting in, how you are designing or creating the presentation and be mindful of how much you can talk about and share in a 5 minute presentation.

Tips on completing the following based on the Criteria 

1. Ensure you Introduce English as an Additional Language/Dialect
2. Identify the features of English as an Additional Language/Dialect
3. Explain what child development is and what the difference is between development of the ages birth to five.
4. Look at the research and identify theories and research which highlight impacts on child development from ages birth to five.
5. Use the theories and research to map out your slides. Decide on the information you want to present.
6. Make sure you reference key points.
7. Write your speaking notes to align with the order of the powerpoint slide.
8. The speaking notes should be the same as what is said on the powerpoint for voiceover.
9. Make your presentation engaging for the viewer.
10. Be careful about putting too much information on each slide. It should NOT be a written essay on each slide and you just reading it. This is a presentation. Look at the definition earlier described of what is a presentation.
